Anderson County girls’ basketball faced a familiar foe in the Owen County Lady Rebels Friday night. The home team, despite trailing at halftime by a slim one-point margin, were able to gain momentum in the second half, beating Anderson 50-41 to hand the Lady Bearcats their sixth loss of the season.
Fortunately for Anderson County, they were not left to focus on Friday night’s loss, as they faced Grant County on Saturday. This time, the Lady Bearcats went on the road and handled their regional competition, winning 59-54.
Jenna Satterly, who was recently selected to the all-region team, led the way in Friday night’s game, scoring 21 points, including five three-pointers, and grabbing two boards. Lainey Johnson, who was also chosen for the all-region team, as well as the eighth region player of the year, had nine points and three rebounds.
Jenna Beasley and Ella Baum each had five points, and Faith McGregor had one. Beasley and Faith Hyatt each had three rebounds, and McGregor and Baum had two.
The following night, Johnson led the team with 16 points including four three-pointers, and four boards. Baum had her biggest game of the season with 15 points and five rebounds, tying McGregor for most on the night.
Satterly had 11 points and four rebounds, followed by Maddie Glass with six points, Claire Cooper and McGregor with four points, and Hyatt with three points. Cooper also had two rebounds, and Hyatt had four. Beasley had three boards as well.
