$100 CAKE

Cliff Goodspeed, local building contractor, is shown holding a cake he bought at auction for $100 at the American Legion Hall at a free soup supper given by the Anderson County Republicans and Democrats to elect Walter Patrick as Circuit Judge in 1972. The cake was later presented to the residents of Sunset Hill. Pictured, from left, are front row: Democrat County Attorney Ollie J. Bowen, Patrick, Goodspeed, and Republican and member of the State Personnel Board, Ralph Homan. In the second row are the girls who served the soup supper: Mrs. Sherwin Cox, Mrs. Sally Crawford, Mrs. Bob Cox, Mrs. Brenda Jeffries, Mrs. Judy Stevens, Mrs. Joan Taylor, Mrs. Margaret Watts and Mrs. Linda Casey.
