Taylorsville McDonald’s owner Jon Peter and Ronald McDonald House Charities Kentuckiana CEO Hal Hedley stopped by the store to personally congratulate manager Scott Burdette. The Taylorsville store exceeded its goal of $5,000 in donations for the month of May for the Ronald McDonald House.
Hedley brought balloons and a hand-made poster thanking Burdette and the Spencer County community for their fundraising accomplishment.
“I just want to thank the Spencer County community. We could not have done it without them,” said Peter.
Hedley stated that Ronald McDonald House Charities is important to this community because of the personal connection, the fact that there are families here that have used the services offered. Hedley also mentioned that the community has paid for over 200 nights for families to stay over the years.
“You don’t need to have a super-high volume store to have high volume of donations, and Scott has proven that,” said Hedley.
Burdette had an original goal of $3,000, which was met early on, so in order to keep it going, he made a TikTok dance challenge video to get his employees motivated.
Burdette also talked his management team into agreeing to get a pie in the face if the store raised $5,000. The date of these festivities has yet to be determined, but Peter insists on being invited when that happens.
