Acting Superintendent Chuck Abell posted an end of school message on Facebook last Tuesday. In this message, Abell said: “Hello Spencer County. As this school year comes to a close, I would like to take the opportunity to reach out to the members of our school community.

“First of all, to our students. Congratulations. You have successfully completed another school year, the first full school year in quite some time. You’ve had to face challenges and overcome obstacles, and you’ve done so successfully. For that, please know that I am proud of you.

“To our parents, thank you for the support that you give to your kids. But also, thank you for the continued support that you give to Spencer County schools. We realize that we’ve had challenges throughout the course of the year, and you’ve been patient with us, and flexible, and for that, I appreciate you.

“And to our staff members, you are the heart and soul of Spencer County schools. Your commitment and dedication is what makes this school successful. Please know that I admire and respect your passion, and I appreciate everything you do, each and every day. We could not do it without you.

“So in closing, I would just like to say that I hope each and every one of you have a joyous summer, and that you’re able to spend quality time with family and friends.

“Thank you and have a great day.”
