Donavin Carroll and Jordan Harris both went yard and Daley Penick didn’t allow a hit as the Collins baseball team rolled over Bullitt Central 13-1 on Wednesday.
Penick struggled at the start of the game, walking the first two batters he saw before surrendering the only Cougar run of the game to put the Titans behind 1-0, but his offense responded immediately in the top of the second.
Jacob Alvey roped a double to center and Caleb Bailey drew a walk to put pressure on the BCHS pitcher.
Brady Morris sac-bunted the runners over and Michael Schramm drove in the tying run on a single to center. Bailey would score on a Lukas Cox groundout and Schramm would score on an error.
Penick settled down and sat down the Cougars in order in the bottom half of the inning and Harris led off the top of the third with a solo homer to left field.
Carroll and Ruble both singled and Alvey reached on an error that brought Carroll around to score.
Bailey would also reach on an error, allowing Ruble to score.
Schramm led off the fourth with a single and was driven in by a Harris double to left.
Carroll and Ruble walked and Alvey drove all three runners in with a double to center field. The next four batters would draw walks, putting Collins up 12-1.
Carroll would hit his second homer of the season, and of his high school career, to lead off the fifth and final inning.
