On January 11, 2023, Lee Owen Tinsley Jr., loving father, friend, teammate and brother passed away peacefully in the city of Scottsdale, Ariz. Lee was known as a man of integrity, commitment and passion. He loved the simple things in life and spending time with his precious family.
He was drafted first round of the MLB Draft out of high school in 1987, while foregoing a football scholarship to Purdue. He was successful in everything he put his mind to as well as playing and coaching for many teams across the US. Once he retired, he continued his passion by coaching and training youth.
Lee loved his children more than anything and we know this in not goodbye — it’s see ya later. Lee is survived by his children, Kobie, Ethan and Nia, their mother, Susan; his loving parents Lee and Anniej; his siblings Mitchell, Curtis (wife, Hope) and Felicia; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and always remembered in their hearts.
Lee’s Celebration of Life will be at Shelby County High School gym on Sunday, January 29, at 2 p.m.
