Benjamin Robert Stallard, 79

Benjamin Robert Stallard

Benjamin Robert Stallard passed away at the age of 79 on Aug. 2, 2022, in San Diego, CA. He was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky, the son of the late Maude and Robert Stallard. Ben grew up on a farm, attended Western Kentucky University and then Auburn University, where he obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After college he joined the Air Force with the rank of captain and lived overseas in Germany. When Ben returned to the United States, he opened his own business — Middletown Animal Clinic, in Middletown, and practiced veterinary medicine.

After retirement, he spent his days playing golf, riding motorcycles, rebuilding old cars, and flying his powered paraglider. He was a man of many talents who enjoyed fixing and figuring out how tangible items worked. Ben was a thoughtful and generous man; he helped those in need. Ben was loved dearly and will be sorely missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Gallet and Tammy “Spanky” Reiss (David); four grandchildren, Melissa Reiss, Jean-Luc Gallet, Brian Reiss and Alexandre Gallet; three sisters, Betty “Sue” Perkins, Jacqueline “Carol” Gowin (Butch), and Virginia “Jenny” Williams (Willie Willard); along with nieces and nephews Lance Perkins (Tonya), Scott Proud (Michelle), Dawn Romer (Peter) and Allen Williams.

Ben will be laid to rest in Grove Hill Cemetery next to the love of his life, Terry Lou Stallard. We hope you can join our family to celebrate Ben's life. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Dave Hamlin officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Dementia Society of America, P. O.
