Oldham County Fiscal Court presented Horace Harrod a ‘Spirit of Oldham’ award during its May 16 meeting for his many years of service on the now-dissolved Oldham County Environmental Authority (OCEA). Harrod served OCEA for 13 years.
‘Horace Harrod guided the environmental district through many difficult times,’ said County Judge-Executive David Voegele. ‘Expanding the district, buying equipment, building a new sewage treatment plant in the southwest portion of the county, dealing with somewhat hostile people at the state division of water to put rules on us [are among his contributions]. Horace led us in an exemplary way and reached a higher standard in this county than most.’
