The Eminence and Henry County swim teams competed in the Region 6 meet at the Shelbyville FAC on Feb. 3 and 4.
The Warriors finished 11th overall with 103 points and the Wildcats finished 13th with 48 points.
“I was very pleased with the number of swimmers that made it back to the next day of regionals. Dillon Downey, Esdon Prewitt and Ashlee Whitaker made it back for the second day for Henry County. Eminence had Kaid Blevins, Harrison Gilbert and Rachel Lynn to make it back as well,” said coach Sarah Buckley. “Both Henry County and Eminence had more swimmers make it back than the year before. All the relays were able to make it back and improve on their times.”
The girls’ squad for Eminence earned 54 points for 11th place. In the 200 yard medley relay, Gracelyn Harris, Savanna Flowers, Sequoia Waddell and Rachel Lynn took home 11th with a time of 2:32.34.
The same quartet finished 12th in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:12.47.
Lynn ended with a pair of third place finishes. She clocked a time of 2:07.72 in the 200 yard freestyle event and 5:37.37 in the 500 yard freestyle event.
“Our ultimate goal is to have swimmers qualify for state. Rachel Lynn of Eminence qualified as first alternate in the 500 yard freestyle. Now we wait to see if anyone scratches,” said Buckley.
The Lady Cats finished in 14th place with 21 points. Lily Jane Powell, Katie Jo Sheehan, Abby Sheehan and Ashlee Whitaker combined for a time of 2:33.61 in the 200 medley relay for 12th place.
All four girls teamed up for 13th place in the 200 yard freestyle relay as well, finishing with a time of 2:16.49.
Whitaker also took home 14th in the 200 yard freestyle race with a time of 2:32.47.
The Warrior boys team had five relay and individual races place in the top 15.

“I couldn't be prouder of both teams and their effort put forth this season. Lots of personal best times at the regionals and that is what we want to see,” said Buckley.
