Owen County defeats Lady Cats, Wildcats

The Henry County girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Owen County on Monday and Tuesday for a district battle with the Rebels.

The Wildcats fell on Monday night 64-43 to the Rebels.

Owen County led 14-9 after one quarter of play. The Rebels extended the lead to 25-15 at halftime before pushing the lead to 46-28 at the end of the third quarter.

Baylor Nolin finished with a team-high 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting for the Wildcats. Jerred Slone also reached double figures with 14 points.

Landen Tingle led on the boards with five rebounds for Henry County (2-16).

Brax Ward paced the Rebels offense with 24 points. Micah Shelton had 17 points and Teagan Moore ended with 13 points.

The next night, the Lady Cats dropped a contest with the Lady Rebels 43-18.

Owen County started the game on a 7-0 run, but Henry County cut the lead to 10-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Cats knotted the score at 12 all before Owen County ended the half on an 11-0 run to lead 23-12 at the break.

Henry County was held to three points in the third quarter and trailed 31-15 heading into the final eight minutes of action.

Overall, the Lady Cats scored eight points in the second half while giving up 20.

Ashlyn Tingle and Meg Golden finished with five points apiece to lead Henry County. Tingle also accounted for nine of the team’s 22 rebounds.
